North London starts at N1 which is Islington, just north of the City is a varied and culturally diverse place. Much loved by the left-wing middle classes who discovered this areas charm and its many splendid Georgian and Victorian properties in the 1970s, they have populated and popularised it ever since. Additionally, Islington, like the wider north London community is also a working-class enclave.
Stoke Newington has benefited from the popularity of Islington and is now a much sought after residential area. Further north towards Highgate, you get a mix of old Victorian houses on a hill overlooking Alexandra Palace and mix of some high rise and estates. Set in Alexandra Park, Alexandra Palace was built in an area between Hornsey, Muswell Hill and Wood Green in North London, England, in 1873 as a public centre of recreation, education and entertainment and as North London's counterpart to the Crystal Palace in South London.
Crouch End and Muswell hill are favourites with young families with the green areas nearby and more spacious accommodation.
